The film is created day by day yet only a critical eye watching dailies carefully can determine how the film is shaping up. A critical perspective on the dailies is often difficult to gain when you are deep into the logistics of getting through one day after another on budget. Being able to see problems in acting or staging while you are in production allows you to correct them while still in the principal photography stage, which is far cheaper than trying to organize the production later for "reshoots".

Monitoring the dailies for proper legal clearances and signs and products is also essential, yet on set, producers often miss or fail to double check the clearances prior to filming. Including an uncleared product, song or art work in your film could prevent you from getting national distribution.
